ABOUT
THE EVENT
IN LIGHT OF LAW and
LEGAL present The is 3rd edition of the National law online debate
competition in collaboration with JKILS Foundation on 8th and 9th
June 2024 (Saturday and Sunday). The event fosters an atmosphere of healthy
competition, where debaters tackle both contemporary and timeless issues,
making it an enriching experience for all involved. This National Debate will
not only promote the art of persuasive argumentation but will also encourage
participants to broaden their horizons and think critically, nurturing the
future leaders and advocates of tomorrow when they will debate on these crucial
issues.

THEME
The theme for the
preliminary round – Broadcasting bill :
an upcoming tool for curbing free speech
The theme for Semi
Final & Final rounds – INDIA- Mother
of democracy or an electoral Autocracy.
JURY PANEL
The competition is
to be judged by a panel of eminent jury members, which shall be comprise of:
• 1 Judicial
officer,
• 1 High court
or supreme court advocate,
• 1 member from
the academia.
PRIZES & PERKS

Winner Team: Cash Prize of rupees 3100/- + Certificate
•
Runner Up Team: Cash Prize of rupees 2500/- + Certificate
• Best
Speaker (For): Certificate + Cash Prize of rupees 1500/-
• Best
Speaker (Against): Certificate + Cash
Prize of rupees 1500/-
Best speakers will be selected from the marks
obtained by individual speakers of a team from the PRELIMINARY ROUNDS.
ELIGIBILITY
UG / PG law
students from any established law Institute/university. Multiple entries from
the same Institute shall be entertained. Cross-university entries are allowed.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. A
team will comprise of 2 members.
2. The
competition shall comprise of three rounds.
3. Only
24 teams shall be considered for preliminary rounds.
4. Motion
for the rounds will be assigned to the teams on 6th June 2024.
5. Language
for the competition shall be English
FORMAT
The order of the
speakers would be:

Speaker 1 from team 1 will be speaking for the motion.
➢
Speaker 1 from team 2 will be speaking against the motion.
➢
Rebuttal from Speaker 2 of team 1 .
➢
Sur - Rebuttal from Speaker 2 of team 2.
