About the NHRC
The NHRC is the National Human Rights Commission of India,
responsible for the protection and promotion of human rights, defined by the
Act as “Rights Relating To Life, liberty, equality and dignity of the
individual guaranteed by the Constitution or embodied in the International
Covenants ratified by India.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has expressly
been mandated to promote Human Rights literacy and awareness vide Section 12
(h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.

About The Internship Program
This year the "Winter Internship
Programme (WIP) 2023" will commence from 18th
December, 2023 to 16th January, 2024 (30 days).
Applications are invited from eligible students of the entire country.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility and selection criteria will
be as follows:-
1.
Students who have completed 1st year
and pursuing 2nd OR 3rd year of 3 years LL.B. Course are
eligible to apply.
2.
Students who have completed 3 years OR VI
Semester of 5 years Course of BA/BBA.LLB., etc. and pursuing 4th &
5th years are eligible to apply.
3.
Students pursuing LL.M. Course.
4.
Students pursuing MA in Human Rights, Political
Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration,
Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, International
Relations and any of the discipline of Social Sciences would be considered with
preference to students pursuing their final year. Only students of regular
courses of LIGC Recognized Universities will be eligible.
5.
Students must have attained a Minimum of 65%
marks in Class XII and all subsequent semester exams.

18th December,
2023 to 16th January, 2024, (30 days).

Vacancies
Taking the experience of the earlier
Internship Programmes, this year maximum of 80 students will be admitted for
Winter Internship Programme 2023. 5 students from Delhi and NCR region may be
kept in the Wait List. In the event that an intern drops out of the internship,
those who have been put in the Wait list may be called to join the internship
no later than the second day of the Winter Internship Programme 2023.
Brief Course Structure of WIP 2023
would be -
Approximately 80-85 sessions on various human rights issues are proposed to be covered to sensitize the interns. The WIP 2023 will include following inputs:
1. Classroom sessions
2. Interaction with Hon'ble Chairperson and Members of NHRC
3. Group Research project work on Human Rights issues
4. Book Review Presentation
5. Films on Human Rights & Discussion — Child Labour issues, Anti Trafficking, Rights of the Elderly, Health and Education issues etc. and discussions
6. Field Visits
7. Visit to Police Stations & Jail — The interns would observe and interact with Police officers / Jail Authorities and get an insight into the Jail and Correctional Administration.
8. NGO's- The interns would visit NGOs where they can interact with Children and understand the problems etc.
