About Law Commission of India
The Law Commission of India is an executive body that plays
a significant role in legal reform. Established by an order of the Government
of India, its primary function is to conduct in-depth research and provide
expert advice on various legal issues. Comprised of legal experts, the
commission is headed by a retired judge who brings valuable judicial experience
to the table. The commission operates as an advisory body to the Ministry of
Law and Justice, providing recommendations and guidance on matters of legal
importance.

About the Legal Internship
Opportunity
The Law Commission of India is inviting applications from
LLB/LLM/Research students for assisting the commission in its
legal/research/law reform projects. The law commission holds three internship
programmes – summer internship (May-June), winter internship
(November-December) and mid-term internship programmes.
Eligibility
Interested law students pursuing studies in (2nd and 3rd
year of three-year and 2nd to 5th year of five-year law degree course only) at
any recognized College/Law School/University may send their applications.
Responsibilities of Interns
• Interns would be required to help the commission in their
legal research/law reform projects.
• Interns would be required to present a research paper at
the end of their internship on a selected topic.
Duration
The duration of the internship is of four weeks which may be
extended for another two weeks at the intern’s request.
Dates
• Winter internship deadline – October 1
• Mid-term internship – Applications should reach 30 days in
advance of the intended date of joining the internship.
Stipend
It is an unpaid internship.
How to Apply
These applications may be sent either by post/courier or by
hand to reach the Assistant Law Officer, Law Commission of India, Lok Nayak
Bhavan, ‘B’ Wing, 2nd Floor, Khan Market, New Delhi -110003.
Application received after the cutoff date shall not be
considered and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. Incomplete
application will not be entertained.
