In this post, we’ll discuss 10 points about the journey of Justice N.V. Ramana from his birth in an agricultural family to becoming 48th Chief Justice of India.
- Justice
Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, popularly known as, N.V. Ramana, was born in
an agricultural family in Andhra Pradesh's Ponnavaram Village, Krishna
district on August 27, 1957.
- He is
amongst those individuals who had strongly protested against the
emergency, which was imposed by the then Prime minister Miss Indira
Gandhi, during 1975-77.
- After pursuing
LLB, he joined the bar in 1983,
and he had mainly practiced in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, Central
and Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunals and the Supreme Court of
India.
- He specialized in dealing with the matters pertaining to the Constitutional,
Criminal, Service and Inter-State River laws.
- On
27th June, 2000, He was appointed as a permanent Judge of
the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
- Finally
he elevated as Supreme Court judge on
17th February 2014.
- Today
from 24th
April, 2021, he’ll be taking care as the 48th
chief justice of India.
- After Justice K Subba Rao, he will be the second Chief Justice of India from the state of Andhra Pradesh.
- Justice
Ramana will function as the Supreme Court Chief Justice for the tenure of 1
year and four months, till August 26, 2022.
